LISTENING, WATCHING, DISCUSSING, THINKING AND THEN PRACTISING
ThIS message is from Upanishads ! Upanishads say to listen from all sources = Bhadram karnebhi srunuyaama devaa: Watch around you = Bhadram pasyema akshabhir yajathraa…… Practice from that = Devahitam yadaayu. Thus listening, watching, discussing and thinking should be done before practicing anything/ideas/ vision/ view points / …… etc in our life.
LISTENING should be done from all the sources like radio, tv, friends, Cds, and so on . Each minute of listening can give some new ideas on existing problems or something entirely new. It is said that “listen twice as much as you speak because you have two ears and one mouth”
WATCHING the 360 degree around you, you can see many many things, facts, events, experiences and so on around you. They are nature’s gift for us given as direct lessons for learning and for adopting good things and rejecting bad things. There will be something to learn from each movie, serial, drama, natures’ activities and so on. The need is to keep open eyes and open mind.
DISCUSSING Carefully when we ask questions and discuss with others, we can get many information and knowledge about the subject. Thus a discussion can save time, energy, money and so on other than getting the first hand knowledge from an experienced person. But remember “ never talk when you can nod” . This tells us that unnecessary talking may not fetch anything good, even if it may be for impressing the other person. Vaaang may madhumattha is an upanishadic message to be followed while discussing ; let your words be as sweet as honey.
THINKING is the work done by the mind after receiving the messages through ears and eyes. That is the laboratory from where the conclusion has to come from. It is said that “ amazing ideas from that is an excellent experience” Think twice before starting the work. It is also said that “ every day 45 minutes for thinking, not meditating, not relaxing but thinking can fetch solution and new ideas for the whole day and more …”
PRACTISING whatever is the output of the thoughts should be done in our life, without which all other procedures are useless. Peter F Drucker has told “there is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all”. So practice only usefull things with a purpose.
