Just an introduction of thirukkural for knowing how the Indian thoughts were so similar in north and south of India. Thirukkural written more than 2000 years ago by thiruvallur is the essence of Vedas; Selected verses of Tirukkural:
Nutshell of the chapter 4 – 1 to 10 stanzas on dharma
There is nothing higher than dharma and it secures glory and wealth. To forget it is brought to greatest evil. Be pure in mind. That is dharma. That course of conduct that steers clear of every desire, wrath, and offensive speech – is alone dharma.
Do not postpone doing dharma. Do it now. For it will be a never failing friend at your death. Why search for fruits of dharma? Behold the one in the palanquin and the palanquin- bearer.
If one were to practise righteousness every day it would be the stone that blocks the way to rebirth. Happiness spring only from dharma,. All else is sorrow and merits no praise. To do good and to avoid evil must be the law of our bring.
Chapter 10 on sweet words abstract of ten messages
Sweet are the words that fall from the lips of those who are full of guileless love and truth. To speak with a pleasant look is better than to give with a cheerful heart. To welcome one with pleasant look and loving words is righteousness. The torment of poverty does not befall those who have a good word to say to all.
Humility and loving words are only true ornaments, others are not, vice wears out and virtue grows i one who speaks kind and wholesome words.
Wetly uttered words that do good to others will light up the path of virtue. Sweet and inoffensive words yield one happiness both here and hereafter.
Why should a man use harsh words, knowing the pleasure that s sweet speech kindles? Indulging in offensive words and avoiding sweet ones is like preferring the raw to ripe fruit
