The purpose of learning and teaching Indian heritage: Ultimate aims of learning and teaching the heritage of a nation is to create a sense of pride in the mind of the citizens, particularly, in the younger generations. When they say I am a proud Indian / German/ American…. The question comes..! Why are you proud of being the citizen of that nation. The answer is related strongly with the heritage of that nation. That mean the present , past and future of the nation.
We should learn our heritage for informing the world that our forefathers have discovered or invented these many ‘knowledge or technologies’. If we do not know to project those information and knowledge, that means we are ignorant about ourselves and our nation’s, merits and achievement, who else will do that job of informing the world about Indian heritage.. An American is not going to teach the greatness of India. It is our dharma to learn and teach our heritage for informing the world about our contribution to the world.
The world, particularly scientists, intellectuals and scholars are searching for ideas from world over. The IT age has created a marvelous opportunity to disseminate the information or knowledge from where further application can be generated. Thus we have to learn our heritage for solving the negatives of the modern society, for creating a new base of application or modified base of application for the 21st century. India has many such knowledge in all branches of science, philosophy and so on. These branches of knowledge can be used as such or even with addition, deletion, modification and correction.
Thus we have to learn and teach our heritage for creating a sense of pride among Indians, informing the world about our contribution and third for the present day application with modern knowledge or directly.
