WHAT TO GET FROM A STORY | The foundation of the Indian culture rests on changing the mind from bad to good, darkness to light and from a state of tensionful mind to tensionless mind. This we can see in the Upanishadic saanthi manthra message Asatho maa……..
The simplest methods advocated by our forefathers for the above are listening, watching, discussing and thinking about the contents of stories, experiences, messages and truths of life. This should be done by the people depending upon their academic / intellectual / qualification.
Each story contains an excellent message either in the movie or serials or even a the oral stories told in school classes.
Remember the stories will definitely contain a good lesson which can be extracted from it directly. Other than this the experiences of the characters / players give us good lessons to learn . Again the messages given among / between the players are also important for us to learn. This can also include the truths and facts about our life
Thus we have four great and useful factors available from each story. Listening / watching / discussing / thinking about the stories. We may think story telling is primitive or childish. No not at all. In MBA classes even in the most respectful universities, the four factors taught are stories , experiences, messages and truth about the business.
Thus make it a habit to listen and make others listen, watch and make others watch, discuss and make others discuss, think and make others think about stories, experiences, messages… and practise good from that in our life. This the most important exercise for our children. Start from today itself. Never expect governmental changes will bring changes in the education system. The changes should start from our home, that too from the parents to children. Remember each working day 7 -8 hors our children spend in school and 16-17 hrs they spend with parents. All the 24 hrs they spend with parents on holidays. Teachers have to look after 40 children, whereas, the parents have to look after their own one or two children.
