THANKS GIVING DAY FOR OUR FOREFATHERS. VEDIC PITRU KARMA ON 14TH AUGUST FROM 5 AM Under the guidance by Dr. N. Gopalakrishnan
Majority of the IISH well-wishers and family members are from Kerala because IISH is only slowly spreading to other parts of the country. In Kerala this year 14th Aug is the pithru karma performance day. The day during when we give our homage and respect to our forefathers and also those who helped us in our life.
Whether their soul is still there, whether it is in heaven or hell, whether it has already taken a rebirth or not, it is our dharma to remember them and give our respectful pranams at atleast once in an year for one hour with duly designed karma – rituals. This should be done with utmost sincerity and devotion, hence it is known as sraardha.
This day is important that it is a no moon (new moon day / amaavasy) when the Sun and Moon come together in Karkitaka raasi the swakshetra of moon. We invite (do aavaahanam) our forefathers and offer pooja and finally give our thanks and prayer to the almighty for their ultimate moksha and pray to them for our glorious life. This is the only ritual in sanathana dharma where we pray for our forefathers for their moksha/ rebirth in a dharmic family and request them for their blessing for our glorious life.
Our dharma Saastra clearly mentions that both men and women should perform the pithru karma if one or both of their father or mother is no more. They should give 1. pitru tharpana for to the nature as devatha tharpana, 2. to great rushies as rushi tharpana, and to 3. acharyas as guru/ acharya tharpana.
Whether you are a Hindu, Christian, Muslim, leftist, rightist or an atheist, it is a great ritual which you should perform every year whether your parents or forefathers have gone to heaven / hell or taken a rebirth or you have performed all the final ritual in Rameswaram, Kanyakumari, Gaya or Thirunell. This is like we celebrating Mahathma Gandhi’s birthday every year even though he is no more in this world.
We invite you, your friends to performs pitru karma knowing its full scientific meaning and messages in IISH spiritual center, Mazhuvanchery Mahadeva Temple, national Heritage Center, Mazhuvanchery, near Kechery, Trissur (09446361149 / 9388203010).
